Rent a bike and cruise out to Chilkoot Lake along the dramatic glacially carved fjord.

Begin this adventure by riding along the harbor where our town’s local fishing industry fleet can be seen along Front Street. As you merge onto Lutak Road, keep an eye out on the water for sea lions and harbor seals. As you travel toward the lake, take a moment to think about the glacial activity that carved out the valley almost 20,000 thousand years ago, leaving the dramatic landscape we love and cherish. Coho, pink, and sockeye salmon congregate at entrance of the Fjord where they’ll make their final swim upstream to spawn along the riverbanks and Chilkoot Lake. You might even get a chance to see bears fishing in the Chilkoot River!

Restrictions and Notes: This is a suggested route while you rent a bicycle – it is not a guided tour. Waivers are required. Alaska Law requires a basic drivers license to operate an e-bike. E-bike rentals are not available for riders under 16 years old.
